"You should just make shirts that say "I Know Bob Durstock."" This is the one sentence that started everything. Ever since my friend Brent said this I have been making "I Know Bob Durstock" shirts.

I first made 50 and sold them for just enough for me to break even. Well, I kept getting request to make more and more. So I did. They ended up on the Fox19 Morning News a few times, and after that people were getting ahold of me in every way to try and get one of the shirts. During the beginning I would get emails for people wanting them for their kids as Christmas presents...so I delivered.

Some fun facts:

-Shirts can be found in over ten states

-A local restaurant has its employees wearing IKBD apparel

-A construction company in Indiana has bright safety green IKBD shirts

-I am trying to do a shirt a month in 2010 (I missed March so maybe I will just do two shirts in another month. You'll have to stay tuned to see what's up)

Everything is going very well right now. With the help of the guys at RockitIM, I have a new online store that currently has four different shirts for sale ("The First One," "The Hullabaloo Concert Edition," "The Invasion," and "Show Some Love.") and more to come in the very near future. My April shirt is going to be titled "April Showers." I have designs being developed that will continue to make IKBD apparel fun and enjoyable. What up world? I just got home from my spring break trip to Destin, FL. It was awesome. I really enjoy traveling even if it is just a few days. It gives me a chance to get away from things and just chill with my awesome friends. We met some cool new friends from Minnesota, relaxed on the beach (it was a bit chilly) and Brent even enjoyed a cheeseburger that had Krispy Kreme Donuts as buns. WHAT?! Yeah, he said it was delicious.
It is good to be home, although staying in Florida a few more days would have been totally ok with me. I am in the process of developing a new shirt so stick around to see the design and order them.

It's Happening...

So as I mentioned before, like a month ago (oops...it's been awhile) I am going to have a shirt a month in 2010 (that's the plan, I need everyone reading this to support that by buying a few things here and there if you don't mind, I mean I think these shirts are pretty rad). Now you might be asking yourself, since this month is almost over, "Where is the January shirt?"

The month isn't over yet which means I still have time so chill out! I have two shirts in production right now with the help of the guys at RockitIM and they are SUH-WEET. And since February is right around the corner you know I have a Valentine's Day themed shirt on its way and your significant other told me they wanted one. Now you don't want to let him/her down do you? DO YOU? I didn't think so.

Big plans for a big year

Hello everyone, 2009 is almost over. I have some big plans in store for 2010. I am going to start by producing for you all a shirt a month. That's right, every month with the help of the guys at RockitIM I am going to try and produce a new and awesome IKBD shirt for you all to wear. So get ready because it is gonna be wild. I already have the January shirt in the works and it is totally rad. As soon as I get a few more things together I will have a picture of it so you can see.

The IKBD team has been throwing a few more ideas around and we are going to see what happens. More apparel is in the works and there has been talk about maybe even car decals?!?! Yeah that's right, I'm going there.

Hello there people. I have been super busy with school finals and work. Yes work, I, Bob Durstock am now working. I am now in the retail business and people are crazy, especially at Christmas time. Long lines, clothes thrown everywhere, people getting into the "holiday cheer" by yelling at one another. Calm down folks, everything will be fine.

Hangin' with Johnny Cupcakes

So Rockit Interactive Merchandising (www.rockitim.com) hosted an event the other day held at NKU. The event was a Johnny Cupcakes lecture. But for now I will tell you that his multi-million dollar clothing line started in very much the same way mine is starting out. He is one of my biggest role models in my endeavor and it was a terrific opportunity to see him speak. After the event I had another great opportunity...to hang out with Johnny Cupcakes. Johnny, the people who put on the event and several other people including myself, sat down until about 2 in the morning just talking and having a good time. It was one of the most surreal nights of my entire life. It was great. Johnny's lecture gave me a lot of push for IKBD and it's time to put things into gear and get things rolling. First it was Greek to Me, now a power plant construction project has some of its workers claiming that they "Know Bob Durstock." The shirts say "IGCC Knows Bob Durstock" and IGCC stands for "Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle." If you want to know what it means, google it, and you too can become as confused as I am. Nah, I'm just playin, it's a pretty cool cycle that is far too complex to even begin to type about in this post.

I am starting to think that "(insert your company name here) knows Bob Durstock" shirts are very cool. What's that? You think they are cool and a great idea and you want your place of employment to have them? I am sure we can work something out. Hit me up, we'll talk.

IKBD jacket design is here!

Well I got the jacket design today. This is only one example for a black one of course, but you can get them in whatever color you want as long as it's red, grey, blue, white or black. Now keep in mind if you get it any other color besides black, the graphic will be black on the jacket not white...got it?

Well pre-ordering for these awesome pieces of fashion will be starting hopefully tomorrow and I want them to be $25, that's if everything goes according to plan. I will let you know asap though, but for now if you want one, contact me THROUGH MY WEBSITE and we will take care of it.

The Original "BOB" photo

SO "The First One," the original shirt, has a picture of me looking up into the sky with my eyes squinted. Many people have asked, "Were you looking into the sun when that picture was taken?" The answer is yes. The picture was taken my senior year of high school in 2007, and I was looking into the sun when the photo was snapped by my good friend and awesome t-shirt designer, Jonathan Klein. Well, that picture and a few more were made into posters for my graduation party and it was hilarious.

Today I was looking through some old stuff and found the original poster from my graduation party. The photo that started the whole IKBD endeavour. The beard-less and young Bob Durstock. Enjoy everyone, it is a good one.

In other news, I got an iPhone the other day and those things are frickin' amazing. I downloaded a Spongebob app. This phone is changing my life. It's like a phone, plus everything else you could possibly imagine ever in the world.

Today I finally picked up my new glasses. I have been waiting for these things for weeks now. They are very big, and very bold RayBan Wayfarer glasses. It is a different look that might take some getting used to for some. Most people buy them as sunglasses but I didn't want sunglasses so I got some regular, clear lenses.

Spreadin' the news

So the first week of school was great. I didn't do any of my homework yet so that really isn't good but we can save that for later.
My shirts were all over campus and I thank everyone one of you who were spreading the word not only at NKU but everywhere else the shirts are being worn as well. People were talking and that's what I wanted to happen. It's really cool to see www.iknowbobdurstock.com getting spread around everywhere.

In other news, I was reading a textbook the other day and found out our only competitor for the maximum recorded life span is the Galapagos turtle. Thought that was interesting...wanted to let you all know. Use that information however you want. I mean, if the situation presents itself in the near future, to where you would need to know that the Galapagos turtle can live over 100 years, that would be pretty rad but who really cares? I guess the turtles do. I like turtles.

Dr. Love is my professor

Today was the first day of classes at NKU and I freaking loved it. There were so many people and so many friends that I haven't seen in awhile. It was great catching up with everyone. I was totally excited/nervous about all of my classes and my first class was Intro. to Education with none other than Dr. Love. That's right, my professor is Dr. Love and she seems very cool. With a name like "Dr. Love" if you are mean...well that just wouldn't make sense.
The day concluded with my 4:30-7:15 pm class and our professor put us in groups and made us think of a group name. It had to be the name of a band or music group. I suggested our group name. It's the Baha Men. That's right, who let the dogs out, I did.

The IKBD Journey So Far

Hello everyone. This post is one that is centered around the progress that has been happening with IKBD since the whole operation began. It was almost two years ago when my friend Brent jokingly gave me the idea to start making shirts that proclaimed, "I Know Bob Durstock." If you check out "The Story" section on my website you will see that when the site went up shirts had made it to Kentucky, Ohio, Texas, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and New Jersey. And the news clip on the page is just one of three times the shirt has appeared on the morning news.

That's awesome. And since then as you can see by the "Shirt Sightings" I have put up, I have shirts that have reached Ireland, London, Poland, Mexico, Florida, Nevada, California, Oklahoma and Indiana. It is amazing to me to see how far this whole idea has come from a simple comment made to me while walking on campus, to a full out reality. I now have four shirt styles to choose from (and more on the way), a restaurant that is sporting IKBD for their employees, a documentary in the works and so much more to come. This upcoming school year at NKU should bring some new fun stories to share and I will continue to work to bring you all some cool, stylish ways to support IKBD. Hullabaloo. Baloo my mind.

Get it..."baloo" my mind like "blew" my mind. ANYWAYS the Hullabaloo Music Festival at the Summit was a terrific success. The fun started with the first band at 1 p.m. and kept getting more and more awesome throughout the day. Free food was provided and my new shirts made their debut with a good day of selling.
We started setting up around 11 a.m. at it was incredibly hot and only got hotter. I got some crazy sunburn. Later, a few of the neighbors showed up and listened to the music with all of us. The bands played until about 11 p.m. and the party moved into the house with the DJ skills of DJ-Prism and he rocked the house all night long.
It was truly an awesome party.

Well they are finally here. I picked up the shirts this morning and they are the first IKBD shirts to have the official logo on them. This is a very exciting day. The shirts have a black graphic on them and the shirt itself is a gold color (the picture makes it look a lot more dull than it really is, it's brighter). They will officially go on sale Saturday, August 15th at the Hullabaloo Music Festival.

Wiener Dog Results

The Wiener Dog races were yesterday and they went terrific. I showed up to the track at around 6:00 and Oscar's race was at about 6:30. There were ten wiener dog races and Oscar was in race ten in lane number nine. My dad stood at the finish line and I had to try to get Oscar all hyped up so he would run to my dad. He had a slow start but picked up his speed and ended up running fourth in his heat.
After the wiener races, there were a few basset hound races and they were hilarious. Most of the basset hounds just stood at the starting line and very few even finished and if they did, it was very slow. One basset hound had three legs and he totally finished his race, it was awesome...not that he had three legs, but that he finished his race...that was the awesome part.

New York for a day

Yesterday (8/7/09) I had the opportunity to fly to New York City for the day and I totally went. Me and five of my friends flew there at 6 a.m. and then met up with another friend who has been interning there for the summer at a fashion journal. Before we met up with this friend we were dropped off in the city via the New Jersey public transit system and then left to wander for a few hours until we met up with our friend. None of us had ever been to New York so we had no idea what to do when we got off that bus. I was a little scared but the extreme fast pace of the city knocked my nerves out of me. We just followed the crowd and soon ended up in Times Square. It was amazing.

We walked around for a five hours and then flew home and I got home at 5:30 p.m. New York was just as crazy as I imagined it to be and I am looking forward to going back in the future. It was like a whole other world. I only took a few pictures on my phone basically just to prove I was there.

Wiener dog race.

Yes, yes, yes, it is as funny as you are picturing it. My wiener dog, Oscar, will be racing this Saturday (Aug. 8) in the Wiener Dog Summer Nationals at River Downs Race Track. He is in the tenth race and he is number nine.

I have missed the races for the past couple of years so I am excited to get back and see all of these dogs. It is one of the funniest things ever. There are just hundreds of wiener dogs everywhere. I will let you know how he did when the race is over. Oscar is going for the gold.

My mannequin is missing an arm...

I am very excited because I have a mannequin! Well sort of...it's missing an arm. That just adds to its character or something. I need a sweet name for it (or her which ever you prefer).

That's all this post is about....just to show the mannequin I guess. I was excited, she wears my shirt well if I do say so myself. It (she) will be making its (her) debut at the Hullabaloo Music Fest on August 15. Any name suggestions will be appreciated. Peace.

All of my free food

I just got back this morning from one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life. I traveled to Richmond, KY to attend the grand opening of a Chick-Fil-A. "The First 100 Event," as it is called, honors the first 100 guests to a new Chick-Fil-A by giving them free food for a year.

I went with three buddies of mine and we got to the location at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. There were about 170 people in front of us in line. At 6:00 a.m., everyone went inside and put their name on a raffle ticket and dropped it in a box. Then one by one, names were picked to see who would be lucky enough to get the free food. (The dude in the pic below is my friend Matt, he was #70).

Excitement was high at the beginning and as names kept getting called, people became worried about if their trip was even worth it. The first guy in our group got called on #68. Then one of our other guys was #70. It got to number 90 and we still had two guys left, including myself. I got called on #95. AWESOME. We had all made it except for one...and he got called too! On #101 (they decided to add a few).

Then we had to camp out in the parking lot for a full 24 hours. I almost went crazy. But in the end, I was handed a box full of free food coupons so it was totally worth it.

Chick-Fil-A 100!

I am leaving tonight (7-28-09) at 8:30 to travel to Richmond, KY to be there for the opening of a new Chick-Fil-A that will happen on 7-30-09. For those of you who do not know, when a new Chick-Fil-A opens, the first 100 people in line get a free meal once a week for a year, that equals 52 free meals (or 26 free dates). The official rules say that the counting doesn't start until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, but my friends and I want to get there early enough to secure our place in the crowd.

There is also a new Chick-Fil-A opening in Florence which is much closer to where I live, so I plan on attending that grand opening as well. I will let you know if I was one of the lucky ones for the Richmond location. Let's hope for the best. Peace out.

Summit Party 7/18/09

The Summit (awesome house in Newport, KY) held its monthly party tonight. It was terrific. Each month the Summit men get together a bunch of people to hang out and listen to some bands for the night. The attendance for the parties is usually between 50-100 so the house gets pretty packed. The bands at this party were Front Porch Folk and Good Morning Gladys. I was at my cousin's wedding for the first part of the party so I missed Front Porch Folk, but I have heard them before and they are pretty good.

I made it just in time for Good Morning Gladys. They rocked the house. It was the loudest concert that house has ever had. I am extremely surprised that none of the neighbors complained, I was expecting cop cars. My ears are still ringing. I am posting each of the bands' Myspace pages for all of you to check out.

Hullabaloo--End of the summer concert

The event known as "Hullabaloo" will be happening on August 15, 2009 at The Summit, a freaking awesome house in Newport, Kentucky. It is a big music and arts festival. There will be between 15 and 20 bands that will be performing and the concert is all day starting at 12 pm.
There will be free food and the whole event is going to be to benefit the Freestore Foodbank so there will be donation bins set up so people can donate canned goods and clothing. It is going to totally rock fo sho.
My new t-shirts will be unveiled there and I will be selling shirts the whole day at the show.

It's Greek to Me!

There is something awesome happening for IKBD at the end of this week. The local Northern Kentucky restaurant, Greek to Me, known for the best and most delicious gyro selection in town, will be showing some style with their new "Greek to Me Knows Bob Durstock" shirts.

The new shirt is to debut by the end of this week and will be for the restaurant's employees and there will be some for sale there as well. I will totally let everyone know when exactly it happens and how it all went down. It is the first shirt that will incorporate the new IKBD logo. This is a big deal.

With the help of a friend of mine, a new logo was developed for the IKBD shirts, and here it is...
